Drastic different temp. readings from three programs

Post by seannied »

The first program is Nvidia Ntune which reads a CPU temperature of 30 C. The second program is CoreTemp which gives a reading of 22 C and 22 C. The third one is SpeedFan 4.33 that reads 51 C. I have AMD 64 X2 6000+ CPU with Foxconn C51XEM2AA Mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813186098). Bios from the computer says it's at the lower 20C's. I don't know which one to believe! I have 2 intake fans on the side, 1 intake in the front , 2 exhaust fans in the back (psu + 120mm). This is my first self-built computer but I really don't know much about them. Learning as I go..

I'd trust BIOS readings over SpeedFan and nTune. I would guess if BIOS temp is similar to Core Temp, it may be correct, depending on your ambient temperature and your cooling.

A 3GHz CPU is probably one that isn't a very cool running CPU, another way to check is touch the heatsink and see if its cold (20-30C) or hot (50C) to the touch.
