Do you plan to fix UEFI mode driver load, please?
A friend has a Intel Core i7 6700K CPU on a new GIGBYTE mobo.

Screenshot:
Image

When he turns off UEFI, i.e. sets that from Windows UEFI mode in the BIOS/UEFI to Other setting, driver then works & loads fine, shot:
Image

This is on Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. It is possible pre-Anniversary versions/builds of Windows 10 did not have this issue.

Any comments, please? Will this be fixed soon (or not so soon, but still planned)?
When UEFI is turned off in BIOS, any benefits of quick Windows 10 loading in UEFI mode - Fast Boot/Ultra Fast Boot are lost, so not a good workaround.
Please also note Real Temp handles this fine (although my friend says it shows wrong temps for his Intel Core i7 CPU).
Can you not work with Real Temp author to help fix this driver issue?

Can we somehow help you fix this? I.e. send money, do testing/etc? :)

Hi Naki,

I do plan to get this fixed. At the moment I'm waiting to hear back from my current digital signature provider about a possible upgrade to the EV certificate, which will allow me to get the drivers signed by Microsoft. I still don't know how much it will cost, or whether it's even possible. From a quick look-around I've done, it seems that a 3-year EV certificate can cost about $1000. I've never actively asked anyone for help, but this time I may actually need some help funding this. I don't want to speak too soon, though, and I'll update this thread as soon as there are news about this issue.

At least for the moment, 1.0 RC9 should still work fine.

Hi Guys, It looks like it can be somehow linked to the UEFI Secure Boot. I was unable to open CoreTemp (driver error) but after re-installing Windows with Secure Boot - off it works like a dream. Before clean install I had a problem with Asus Intel XTU as well. Secure boot is an evil=]

Core Temp Windows 10 Anniversary Build 14393

Post by AJDeBres »

For those of you having issues with Windows 10 build 14393 and Core Temp (Driver Failed to load) issue. After you download the V1.2 installer for Core temp go into the properties (before running setup) compatibility tab, hit the drop down and choose windows 7 click ok, then run the installer. This is the way I got it working. please reply and let me know if it worked or didn't work. thanks and good luck!

Each time Windows Update issues a KB update, it increments the revision level and this shows up as the .xxx number. There have been several updates since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update of Build 14393.

Lol I understand that you can also check it with msinfo. I was referring to whether or not you had to OPT in to the newest updates as I haven't researched much on it, too busy getting programs work after updating to anniversary.

I've been looking around and I think I've got enough saved up right now.

Hullo, I'd just like to report the same problem on Win10 but for 1.4.1 update.
I hope you're able to eventually get it signed without too much trouble!
And as 2secret said, if you open donations I'd be happy to support your software too :>

Hello, I have the same problem on Windows 10 64bit: "Driver has failed to load". I am waiting for a solution like others.

Edit: Core Temp runs perfectly after I changed "Secure Boot" as "disabled" at BIOS.

Thank you.

For anyone who would like to donate, I can only accept PayPal right now.
Whoever doesn't have a PayPal account can also use their credit card, if they don't mind doing that.
You have a Donate link right in Core Temp's Help menu.

@serkanbirkan
Disabling Secure Boot is a workaround, but not a recommended one.
If Core Temp 1.0 RC9 worked OK for you, you should consider reverting back to it for now.

Core Temp 1.4.1 was working for me and today it stopped loading. I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling and get the driver failed to load error. I went back to 1.1 and it now is working, but reminds me that an update is available. I am on build 14931 of Win 10, i5-3770k cpu, Z77 sabertooth mobo
Error screen shots attached if helpful:

I noticed the dev posted a link earlier in the thread to a windows certificate http://www.alcpu.com/forums/viewtopic.p ... =25#p14185 as a possible fix other than turning off secure boot. does that certificate actually get around the secure boot driver issue? and what exactly does the certificate do? does it allow ANY 3rd party kernel driver to load or only the one for coretemp? thanks

No it does nothing to help fix this issue.
I've been extremely busy the last two months with a work related project. Once that's over with, hopefully next week, I'll be purchasing an EV certificate and begin the validation process. It's going to take some time, but I there will be a solution to this.
